The UAE has been seeing a steady increase in the number of recoveries on a daily basis.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Sunday announced 781 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases in the country. As many as 509 new cases of recovery were also announced.
29,000 additional Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the country, the ministry added, confirming 13 new deaths from the infection.
With this, the total number of infections in the country stands at 18,198, while recovered cases have reached 4,804. Total deaths stand at 198.
The country has been seeing a steady increase in the number of recoveries on a daily basis, thanks to extensive timely testing and treatment being provided to patients across health centres.
Meanwhile, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has ordered payment of all costs related to treatment of critical cases of coronavirus through stem-cell therapy. Sheikh Mohamed's generous initiative comes after the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center (ADSCC) announced development of an innovative and promising treatment for Covid-19 infections using stem cells. The treatment has been administered in the UAE to 73 Covid-19 patients who have all been successfully treated and cured of the virus by inhaling the treatment into their lungs after it was nebulised into a fine mist.
As part of the country's efforts to ramp up testing, a new mobile centre has been launched by Abu Dhabi Police, in partnership with the health department in the emirate. Lt-Col Thuraya Ali Al Hashemi, director of the medical services department at the Abu Dhabi Police, said the mobile testing centre includes two clinics with medical and administrative staff from the Abu Dhabi Police and the Department of Health (DoH).
